Ultrasonography is a method of producing images that uses sound waves to view structures inside the body. It is a very precise examination which allows to detect even extremely small abnormalities.
Most frequently it is used to examine abdominal cavity but also thorax cavity, thyroid gland as well as joints or tendons. Because of the fact that we specialize ourselves in nephrology and urology most often we use ultrasound for a procedure called cystocentesis i.e. taking a urine sample directly from the bladder which is under control of USG is much safer for the patient.
