Dr. Rafał Kraszewski graduated from the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine at the Warsaw University of Life Sciences (SGGW) in 2009, and in 2014, he became a board-certified Veterinary Surgeon. Rafał took interest in surgery early in his university years and, while a student, worked for a few years at a 24-hour veterinary clinic in Warsaw. He continues to develop his expertise both in Poland, working with Prof. Marek Galanty, and abroad. In 2017, Dr. Kraszewski completed a 1.5‑month internship at the Veterinary Teaching Hospital of the Colorado State University under the supervision of Prof. Chris Orton (the founder of cardiovascular surgery in veterinary medicine) and Prof. Eric Monnet (the author of the best veterinary surgery textbook Small Animal Soft Tissue Surgery). In the course of this internship, Rafał was actively involved and assisted in a number of innovative surgery procedures, including an open-heart mitral valve repair in a dog.
Dr. Kraszewski’s professional interests focus on abdominal and thoracic surgery, and especially surgical treatments such as PDA occlusion, procedures in brachycephalic breeds, soft palate and nasal procedures, surgical treatment of portacaval anastomosis, repairs of peritoneal-pericardial diaphragmatic hernia and diaphragmatic hernia, as well as surgical management of liver and lung diseases.
In his spare time, Rafał loves to appear on TV, and is a great enthusiast of artistic gymnastics and mountain hikes.
